L’ESP32-S2 a l’air d’avoir besoin d’une manipulation pour le mettre en mode download:

If the device does not support the auto download mode, you need to get into the download mode manually. To do so, press and hold the BOOT button and then press the RESET button once. After that release the BOOT button.
En gros en le branchant tu dois:
Appuyer et maintenir le bouton BOOT et appuyer sur le bouton RESET une fois.
Ensuite vous pouvez relachez le bouton BOOT
